Salvation

For whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved (Romans 10:13)

It’s important to talk about salvation. We need to be sure we have a foundation of faith set for us that will allow us to grow with God. We say we know God. We say we pray. We say we believe in him. BUT have you actually confessed with your mouth and believed in your heart that you are saved by Christ Jesus? It’s easy to think we’re doing the “right” Christian thing, but if we have not believed or stated that we accept Jesus in our heart then we are not doing a very great job. Our salvation is not handed to us and its not guaranteed to us just because we are born. We have to make that decision if we will plan to follow Jesus throughout our life.

That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation (Romans 10:9-10)

If you are ever confused, scripture clearly states that believing in your heart and confessing will result in salvation. That cannot be taken away from you. When you do something bad or commit a terrible sin, God does not take away your salvation. You repent and ask for forgiveness and it will be given to you because we have a God that has endless mercy for us. No one in this world can take your salvation, that’s a gift from God that is between you and Him. People say, “Oh I can do bad things, I just have to be sure I repent then ill be fine and God will still love me.” Here’s the deal, if you are truly Christian you will want to do what’s right for God. You will want to strive to be more like Christ. God knows your heart and will know if your being true to your faith or just acting.

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and foremost commandment. The second is like it, you shall love your neighbor as yourself (Matthew 22:36-39)

So after you become saved and feel that you have your salvation at your hands, what now? How are you supposed to “please the Lord” how are you supposed to live a life like Christ that is correct and loving? How does God expect us to be like Him when we are sinful humans on earth? reread the scripture above from Matthew. Do you remember the 10 commandments? They are still important, but after Jesus came and was the ultimate sacrifice, he made these two the top commandments that he wants us to follow. Notice there wasn’t a huge list or a bunch of things were supposed to be following. It’s two commandments. Two. That is all.

Scripture says to love God with all our soul, mind, and heart. That is the GREATEST commandment. If you feel that you cannot give 100% today, then don’t stress about it. Just love God with your whole heart. If your stressed and not sure how to move forward, just love God with your mind. If your tired and now sure how to move on, then just love God with your soul. If you can simply only complete that in your day, for the month, or the whole year… that’s perfectly ok. You are doing the greatest commandment and that’s just enough. You don’t have to be this person that knows the Bible in and out, who throws Jesus at everyone, or who tries to pray every second. While those things are great and we should strive to do those things; you have to be able to do the most important ones. Love God. Love your neighbor. Don’t think that salvation and Christianity is this hard thing that is impossible to get. The bible specifically states how to get salvation and what the foremost commandment is. You are not a failure if that’s all you feel you can accomplish.

Therefor if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come (2 Corinthians 5:17)

Once you accept Jesus in your heart and into your life, your not the same person. You think different, act different, and see things differently. Other people will start to notice, some might not like it. It’s ok if people think your weird or crazy for being a “Jesus freak” that’s their opinion and means nothing for your future in heaven. You have better plans to spend eternity with God then worry about their opinions. What is so incredible is when you get to experience the newness of yourself when Jesus takes over. Its astonishing how much different you think and how you can point things out in your head when know that it was not something from Jesus and Satan needs to get the heck out. I have noticed just with things I listen to or watch, they make me really uncomfortable when they are inappropriate. I know that those things do not produce any fruit for me to further my faith so there is not need to allow that in my mind.

The great thing about your salvation is literally NO ONE has to know where you stand. It’s not their business and sometimes people shouldn’t know because they might try to alter your thinking. Your salvation is between you and Jesus, no one can’t take it or change it. You can keep it to yourself or tell everyone you know about it. Once you become saved, you probably will be excited and want to tell. There is nothing weird about wanting to spread the gospel. I mean, I made a whole website about it…
The best thing to do for yourself is to find yourself a group that you can trust to guide you and help you continue to grow in your faith. We can’t make it alone.

Just remember to love God with all your heart, soul, and mind and you will do great things.

Much love,
Charity
