Romans

I have gone back and forth trying to think what I wanted to write about for today’s post. I had a lot of topics I tossed around and ultimately ended up giving up and binge watching my show on Netflix. After a while, I decided to choose the topic “grace” so I went to the index in my bible and found it. What I ended up finding was that the book of Romans had a lot of references to grace in it. I turned to the book and started reading. I realized that wasn’t what I want to talk about today. Instead, I want to talk about some of the powerful scriptures I found in the book of Romans.

I have skimmed the book before but haven’t really sat down and read the words carefully. Honestly, I only got to about the 9th chapter before I decided there is just so many great scriptures that I wanted to share a few. Ill finish reading it through sometime later.

What I have come to love about the book of Romans is how pure and raw Paul is when writing this letter. He was such a powerful man and to think he used to kill Christians and then became this huge man in the Bible is crazy to me. It shows me that no matter your past, God can use you in his kingdom to impact so many people.

I mainly want to focus on Chapter 8.

I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed to us. (Romans 8:18 [NIV])

No matter what you might be suffering with now, no matter what is crashing in your life, no matter if everything feels that its falling apart; It cannot compare to the glory that God will release to you. You may have to wait months or years for it to happen but the blessings will be bigger than you can even image. Let be honest, I hated when I was hurting and people kept saying “something big is coming and you will be so happy.” I wanted happiness right away. I came to realize that it wasn’t up to me and what I thought I needed in life. I needed to understand that this is on Gods timing, not mine. We will have tribulations in life, but we cannot compare those sufferings to the power that God has. He is the creator of all things and has the capability to bring you through anything that seems impossible.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28 [NIV]).

Do you love God? Do you consider yourself a Christian? Then you know that God works all things out for the good of us. He will fix our situations and put us on the path that we have been called to do according to His purpose. This life isn’t something that we get to choose what we want and do things the way we want them. God put us on this earth to share the gospel with one another and bring one another to Him.

..If God is for us, who can be against us? (Romans 8:31 [NIV])

Humans are just people. They cannot take away our souls. They may try to take away our human bodies but our spirits live through Christ and cannot be stolen. If we have the most powerful God on our side, what can humankind do? He created us and brought us into this world. There is nothing that anyone can do to push us away from God. He is for us and will never be against us. You just have to accept Him.

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our lord (Romans 8:38 [NIV]).

If this does not move you, I don’t know what else to tell you. Paul is saying that literally NOTHING in all creation can separate us from the love of God. How refreshing is it to know that Gods love for us will never be taken away. What did we do to deserve this love? Why are we so special?

God chose each and every one of us. Each of our lives is just as important as our neighbor. It is our jobs to point others to Jesus and to show them the ways of Christ. We should be showing others the power in the word and encouraging each other to study it together. Remember, no matter what is going on in your life and no matter what you have done in your past, God is always for you. He will always work things out for the good of those who love him. He will not allow anything to separate us from Him. It’s our decision if we chose to separate ourselves from Him.

I encourage you to get your bible out (or app on your phone) and read through the chapters in the book of Romans. You will not be disappointed. I only touched on 4 scriptures just in one chapter; can you image the great things you will read in the whole book of Romans?

Much love,
Charity
