Introduction

When I get a new book, I don’t always read the introduction. I am one of those that rather get to the point and don’t see the need to read the extra fluff. I use to think it was a tease and I rather get to the important information quickly. Honestly, you might think that when you read my book. That’s ok, it wont hurt my feelings.

I started thinking I should give yall another sneak peak inside the book. What better way than sharing part of the introduction and kind of how I chose the name of the book.

You can’t tell me there hasn’t been a time in your life that you have not said, “Lord, help me.” There are plenty of times that I have said that and continue to say it. I wanted something that could express that but also show how the Lord CAN help us. When God kept nudging me write the book I kept asking Him what the heck to name it. One day I was frustrated and upset and said, “Lord, help me!” That’s when it hit me… I found the name!

It wasn’t some crazy story about how I chose the name but it was me humbling myself before God admitting I needed His help. Honestly, I have no degree in writing or anything to support why I thought I was good enough to write a book. Between you and I, I never wanted to write a book. When God told me I was going to do this, I told him no, at first. Obviously, I eventually gave in and jumped into this journey.

This is just a small glimpse into the book. There is so much more to come when you read the whole thing!

So, what will you do? Will you continue to go through this life suffering with pain and anger? Will you continue to be hardheaded and think you know everything? Do you remain skeptical of what God can do in your life? Or will you let God take over and give you the peace you deserve? After years of fighting and confusion, I came to the point that God took over for me, and He gave me the greatest joy and happiness I could ever experience. God will always offer the options for you to share these same experiences, but ultimately, will wait for your pursuit. I think we forget that His hand is extended to us every day and night. He is our father and wants to be there for us; He wants to know how our days went; He wants to know what we are feeling, if someone hurt us, and how we need His help. So many of us think that, since He is God, He should already know that information. I hear you, but don’t you think our parents know when we are upset, know when we need a hug, and make us feel better after explaining and talking it through? God is the same way. He needs us to be vulnerable with Him and share our bad days so He can help us through it and give us the hug we need. Once I chose to completely let go of being stubborn—thinking that I knew everything and that my plans for myself were better—I was given a sense of peace and was more willing to give all my worries to Him. That day, I finally sat down on my bed in a dark room, sobbing, and said, “Lord, help me!”

When you read my book, keep an open mind. No judgment, just reading and listening to what God could be teaching you or showing you. I don’t expect you to learn a bunch of new information, but if I can help you with one small thing, then, I did my job.
