Identity

What do you define yourself with? What do you say your identity is? What are you put on this earth to do? Be a mom? Or dad? Your profession? Is your identity in your job? Do you think you were put on earth solely to do the job you’re doing and parent your kids? I promise there is so much more to life than that.

If you are a Christian, then your identity is in Christ. You are a child of god and your identity is in him. Jesus provided us with our new lives after his death which means we are no longer slaves to sin. This allows us to have a relationship with God just as Jesus did. We are his children just like Jesus is, he is here for us and to help up for the good of his plans. We like to allow our jobs, busy lives, kids, school, spouses, and everything in between to come between us and God. I have noticed the biggest complaint is time. I promise you have time and you make time for silly things everyday, you can make time for Jesus. I am guilty of it, but once we let go and realize he is our identity, you will have a whole different way of thinking. I used to think I was put on this earth to be a parent, do my job, and pursue my career. I recently had a change and realized we are supposed to be disciples of Christ and showing the world his grace and mercy by walking like Jesus. I can still do my job but I have a different thinking behind it and I try to walk as Christ did while he was on earth (But don’t worry, we are not perfect, that’s why we are not Jesus). I have searched and searched before to try to find my identity and the only thing I could come back to is my job and or parenting. I didn’t know until I was asked by someone what my identity was and that I needed to find it. It took a lot of soul searching, reading in the bible, reading different blogs, reading christian books, and listening to certain podcast before I started putting two and two together. It started to make me realize that Christ is my creator and my identity is in him alone.

Romans 6:6 Knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin.

John 15:16 You do not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask for the Father in My name He may give to you.

Once you figure out your identity and start really attempting to live life that way, you will want to start living as Christ the best way you can. Which means, loving others as Christ loves us and to show grace and mercy willingly. We do not know the day that Jesus will come and call us home but we should continue to live our lives for him. We want to show others how Christ is and the only way to do that is living as he did. We have to forgive and love others no matter the wrongs that might of been done to us. Its not easy but God is with us through the process.

Your identity is yours that God has given you, it cannot be taken away. Go find your identity and live the way God has called you. The less stress and pain you have to go through, the better your life will be. Once you accept Jesus as your Savior, you will have a heart full of love and you will be apart of a whole new kingdom with God.

Much Love,
Charity
