Relationship
Maybe you’re new to this whole thing about having a relationship with God. You might think it’s weird and since He “knows all” you don’t really see the need for an actual relationship. What if I told you He is like us and expects a relationship where you can talk and get to know each other more? He wants a relationship with us just like we have with our best friends.
When you first meet someone you might be awkward like me and start asking about what they like, what they do with their free time, favorite color, or a funny fact about them. After talking and a few meet ups you start becoming closer and talk more. You eventually become good friends and trust each other with big things in your life. You start telling them big secrets and go to them for advice. Sound familiar?
This is the exact thing we should be doing with God. Yeah He knows about us, what we like, and who our family is but when have you asked Him about himself? When have you read about him? When have you prayed to Him and asked for His help? We ask a lot of things of God and expect perfect answers. We expect Him to change our terrible circumstances and to give us a better outcome. But if you have little faith and knowledge about God, how can you expect Him to do those large tasks for you?
Lucky for us He is very gracious and will do things for our lives for the good of those who love Him. He will even work miracles in our life even if we arnt doing or job loving Him. Scripture says to first seek his kingdom and then all the others will be given to us (Matthew6:33). Most of us rather get whatever He will give us before seeking Him. I am pretty sure we would be pretty upset if someone came to us that we did not know and asked us fix their problems and offered nothing in return. It goes both ways. I think we can agree we go to God with some crazy big request, right?
John 15:16 You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you.
Jesus knew we wouldn’t always choose Him when we should, that’s why He chose us and died for us. We will always be sinners, but He has equipped us with knowledge and resources to do our very best each day by choosing Him. He gave us the Holy Spirit to allow us to have Him with us daily helping make our decisions and to be more like Christ. We cannot expect one single prayer to completely change our circumstances (although it has the capability), but we can guarantee once we put in the work and dive into Jesus we will have changes in our lives we never expected and were never capable of on our own.
Philippians 4:19 And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
When you have a relationship with God and trust His plan, your request and answers will be exactly what you need and He will give you the knowledge to understand it. You just have to seek Him my friends.
Much love,
Charity
