Anger
Let be honest, we all get angry at some point in our life. Most people experience anger daily depending on the circumstances. It does not take much for people to get upset or someone to upset them. It has become a normal thing for people to justify why they are angry instead of just realizing what actually upset them and fixing it. I am guilty of this and I’m sure you can say the same.
Good thing we have the handy dandy bible that teaches us how to deal with varies things, including anger. There are plenty of stories of people in the bible that are angry, including God. But the difference is their anger is not self defiance like we usually us it for. Most of our anger is because of pride. Do not use your anger to degrade someone or do wrong. If someone has done you wrong, its a typical reaction to become angry and attack that person instead of handling the situation in a calm manor and asking what the actual problem is.
Ephesians 4: 15 But speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ.
We must speak to each other in love and not anger. We need to grow in our Christianity and start loving our neighbors as Christ loves us. We cannot use our anger on someone or a situation and expect a positive response. This goes for every situation in our lives: work, marriage, our children, or talking to the random person that messed up on your order. Humans have so many emotions we have to work through, I think anger is a top one we can all agree needs some extra care.
Ephesians 4:25-29 Therefore, laying aside falsehood, speak truth each one of you with his neighbor, for we are members of one another. Be angry, and yet DO NOT SIN; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and do not give the devil an opportunity. He who steals must no longer, but rather he must labor, performing with his own hands what is good, so that he will have something to share with one who has need. let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear.
Ephesians 4:32 Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.
I want you to think of a time you made a dumb decision or even a really bad decision. Do you think God was angry with you? Should he have tried to get even with you and allowed you to experience the disappointment he did because of your actions? Instead, did he continue to bless you in your life? Does he show you grace and mercy every time you mess up? That’s the beauty of God not being a human like us. We can do terrible things that go against his word and his belief but he shows us love instead of anger. Why cant we do that to each other?
If your going to get angry, don’t allow it to cause you to loose your temper and say things that are hurtful and not loving to each other. I am not saying this because I am perfect and never get angry. I have to remind myself daily to try and fix those emotions before I let them come out with intentions to hurt someone. I think being in the middle of a Pandemic can cause a lot more anger to come out than we would all like. We are all guilty, its ok to realize it and accept it. But, when we allow that anger to consume us and hold grudges for many days, we are just opening a door to allow the devil to cause destruction. Not only on that situation, but we are allowing him into our lives to find other opportunities to mess up.
Don’t give someone the power over your mind to cause you to sin and be just as bad as them when you are angry. Forgive and don’t go to bed angry. Save your energy for the better things in life.
Much love,
Charity
